Milk Replacement Recipe For Newborn Kittens

Have you rescued an orphaned kitten and can’t afford the replacement milk? You may already have the ingredients at home.

12 oz Boiling Water & 1 envelope Knox Unflavored Gelatin. Dissolve the gelatin in the boiling water then add:

  • 1 (12oz) Can Evaporated Milk
  • 2 Tablespoons Mayo
  • 2 Tablespoons Plain Yogurt
  • 1 Tablespoon Light Corn Syrup
  • 1 Egg Yolk

Mix well with mixer or blender. Store in covered container in refrigerator. Warm a small amount for feedings. This will keep about 7 days. This adds between 15-20 grams on kittens a day.

FISH BISCUITS

7-ounces sardines in oil
1/4 cup powdered milk
½ cup wheat germ

Mash the sardines, along with the oil, and mix in the remaining ingredients. Roll the fish dough into small balls, and place them on a cookie sheet sprayed with nonstick cooking spray. Flatten the fish balls with a fork, and bake them at 350 degrees until they begin to brown. Cool these tasty cat treats, and store them in an airtight container. This yummy cat treat recipe makes approximately 2 dozen cat treats.

Homemade Dog Treat Recipe
Cheesy Bites

1 cup shredded cheese (any kind – cheddar, jack, mozzarella, etc.)
1 cup milk
1/2 cup of water
2 cups oatmeal
3 cups whole wheat flour
additional water by the tsp.

Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 ° F (180 ° C).
Combine the flour and oats in a large mixing bowl. In a separate bowl, beat the egg, milk and water. Stir the egg, milk and water mixture into the dry ingredients. Add additional water, 1 tsp. at a time as necessary, to achieve desired (thick but moist) consistency. Dough should be stiff.
Roll small balls (adjust the size of the balls based on how big a treat you like to feed your dog) of dough and place them on a non-greased cookie sheet, approximately 1 or 2 inches apart. Flatten each ball with a spoon, knife or other flat object.
Bake for 20 minutes. Remove from oven and flip each cookie to brown evenly on both sides. Reduce oven temperature to 325 ° F (180 °C). Return to oven and bake for an additional 10 minutes. Let cool. Store in refrigerator.
Makes about 3 dozen treats, depending on how big you make them.

“Our dogs loved these treats so much. They freaked out when they came out of the oven and we had to put some in the refrigerator to cool them quickly.” JV Joey

Apple Cinnamon Drops

1 large apple
1/4 cup honey
1/2 cup of water
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon 1 cup oatmeal
1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
1/8 cup whole wheat flour

Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 ° F (180 ° C).
Core, slice and mince the apple (use a food processor if you have one). In a large bowl, combine the minced apple bits, honey, water, cinnamon, and oatmeal. Gradually blend in the wheat flour, adding enough to form a stiff dough.
In a small bowl, add 1/8 cup wheat flour. Spoon the dough by rounded teaspoon onto ungreased baking sheets, spacing about 2 inches (5cm) apart. Using the bottom of a glass dipped in the wheat flour (to prevent sticking), flatten each spoonful of dough into a circle. Adjust the size of the drops based on how big a treat you like to feed your dog.

Bake for 20 minutes. Remove from oven and flip each cookie to brown evenly on both sides. Reduce oven temperature to 325 ° F (180 °C). Return to oven and bake for an additional 20 minutes. Let cool overnight.
Makes about 3 dozen crunchy cookies, depending on how big you make them.

1-1/2 cup all purpose flour
1-2 cloves garlic, minced
dash salt
6 TBSP Milk

In a bowl, beat the cheese and margarine. Add the flour, garlic and salt; mix well. Add enough milk to form a stiff dough. Cover and refrigerate for 30 minutes. Roll out dough to 1/4-in. thickness. Cut with a bone-shaped cookie cutter. Place on an ungreased baking sheet. Bake at 375° for 15-20 minutes or until edges are golden brown. Biscuits will harden as they cool. Yield: 1-1/2 to 2 dozen (depending on cookie cutter size).

Disclaimer concerning garlic:

“There are over 51,000 sites on the web devoted to warnings about the “toxicity” of garlic, even though there is little scientific data to back the claim other than the fact that thiosulphate is found in garlic. Yet, there are also upward of 4000,000 internet sites, many of which are reputable holistic veterinarians who have widely used garlic in their practice for many years. In regard to this miracle herb and its hundreds of years of “proven use” I would recommend trusting history over mass hysteria and half truths any day.” Quoted from http://www.petremedycharts.com/Blog/blog.php?id=6300271521044089947
