for Florence Lauderdale Animal Control Shelter

Our Own Personal Pets!

You hear a lot about the shelter animals around here, so now it’s time to heard about a few of our own! Some of them were rescued, or adopted from our shelter, even just found on the streets. Here’s the story of our bundle of joys. Maybe our shelter has one waiting just for you…

We found him (Frosty) in our apartment complex 6 years ago just before Christmas…. that explains his name. He’s very clever and extremely affectionate. His favorite game is hide and seek which we play daily. He always sleeps on his back and hides his leftover table food under a rug. Whenever we leave our apartment, he waits in the living room by the front door. Cadie P., Volunteer Schedule Coordinator

Mickey (top) is a domestic short hair cat. I adopted him last March from a lady who could not keep him. Luci Lu (bottom) is a Siamese… I adopted her from the Florence Animal Shelter 3 years ago. Magnolia a/k/a Nolie (middle) is a 8 year old rescued cat. She was a kitten found on Mitchell Hollingsworth’s premises. She wakes me up to throw her favorite 'ratty' and play fetch. --Diana T, Monday Morning Cat Care Volunteer

INTRODUCING….. Kloe Kloe Bear is my 1 1/2 year old terrier mutt. I adopted her from PAWS. The day I adopted Kloe was actually my first day to volunteer with Paws. But instead of working I ended up falling in love and taking Kloe home. She was 6 months old when I got her. Because she was abused I had to spend weeks to gain her trust. Today she is your average dog destroying her toys and always running and playing. She even cuddles with me at night stealing the covers and pushing me off the bed! She is my fiesty child ;) Amber N., Tuesday Afternoon Coordinator

Fritz (right) was one of two young cats rescued from a stray pack in 2006. She is best known for goofily hopping around like a bunny and for waking her humans at six or seven in the morning for breakfast and cuddles (but mostly for breakfast). Syni (left) was adopted in 2007 from my aunt aunt. She’s best known for being an absolute sweetheart, and for her almost constant desire to play. If a mouse or a ball is found in your shoe, you can pretty much guess it’s she that put it there. -- Bessie W., Website Administrator

Boots

I adopted Boots from the Panama City Beach Animal Shelter. She is a wonderful and loving cat. I would be lonely if she wasn’t around since I stay at home most of the time. I love cats best... that’s why I am a cat care volunteer at the shelter. -- Laura C., Tuesday afternoon Cat Care Volunteer

My 3 year old named this sweetheart “Pickles” when he was but a kitten. He is a good boy! He is a 3rd generation cat. Loves to be petted and cuddled!-Volunteer Melody M.

MAGGIE

Junior Volunteer, Abby W.’s family pet named Maggie

Maggie is our favorite dog. We got her in 2005 at a local shelter. She was 3 or 4. Big Fatty is a brown lab and is FAT!!! We have a million names for her. Maggie-May, Chocolate Chunk, Big Fatty, and Heifer! She is loyal and loves my mom, Julie. She loves to play with our other dogs but we have very bad luck living on a big road with no fence. Maggie has lots of nicknames but the cutest ones are Maggie-May and Chocolate Chunk. I taught her to balance treats on her nose and her favorite hobby is chasing rabbits.
