PROFILE – Volunteers

We have people of all ages helping out at our shelter! One thing we all have in common, though, is a love for our shelter animals. Here’s a little bit about ourselves.

Peyton S. was introduced to our volunteer program while visiting our shelter. I own a dog along with her two puppies and a cat. I do not really have much animal volunteering experience, but I love animals. When it comes to calming them down or helping them interact with humans and other animals, I can usually help them very well. I love animals and I would love to help at the shelter. AUG 2011
There is nothing more rewarding than being at the shelter to witness the process of adoption! I see them come in, some sick, hurt, or terrified. Then we get to move them to the adoptable side and learn their personalities. Finally, we are fortunate enough to see how happy these shelter animals make people! So wonderful! Joni L. July 2011
I am a new volunteer and haven’t been able to volunteer as much as I’d like but, just with the few times I’ve helped out at the shelter I saw very quickly it’s an exceptional place! The other volunteers are so nice & helpful and take great care of the dogs and cats. The shelter is always clean & sanitary. Debbie always works so hard to make sure every animal gets a chance for adoption. It’s a great place to be! Amanda R. July 2011
“I think one of the most amazing things at the shelter is being able to see a broken, sick, and tired dog develop and grow into a loving, kind, and happy pet. Volunteering at the animal shelter has allowed me to see how a little love, patience, and compassion can make a difference in an animal or persons life”. Haley B. July 2011
My first day was fun! I enjoyed it and I learned some basic pet care protocols. I was also surprised and moved by how much these animals are loved and cared for there.
